Lutheran Social Services (LSS) serves thousands of people in need each day in 29 Ohio counties by addressing the four core societal issues of food, shelter, safety and healing. LSS offers food through the LSS Food Pantries, housing and supportive services through LSS Faith Mission and LSS Faith Mission of Fairfield County homeless shelters, domestic violence services through LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, senior living and health care, affordable housing communities, and other services that uplift families and strengthen communities

LSS has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Major Gift Officer

to help us fulfill our mission of “creating a better world, by serving people in need.” This position will support all LSS programs including Faith Mission, CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, LSS Food Pantries, etc. Main responsibilities will be to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective individual and corporate prospects and donors, to secure and expand their financial support of the work of LSS programs and services. He/she will be responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization and assist donors in creating meaning in their lives through giving to LSS.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5 years’ experience in major gift fund raising, relationship management or sales leadership. Significant expertise with the area’s funding community highly desirable. Progressive experience working in successful development programs and knowledge of “best practices” in development is preferred. Related Skills: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent verbal and written skills and strong influencing abilities are essential. High degree of initiative and prioritization skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office and Raiser’s Edge fundraising database systems preferred. A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest donor-centered customer service orientation. This position requires travel within the region.
