Job Description
Westchester Senior Living is a premier living and health care campus providing a variety of options and a continuity of care for our community including delightfully spacious, sensibly planned assisted-living apartments allowing as much independence and activity as a person is able in a lovely garden setting. We are also proud to announce the newest addition to our campus, Tivoli Manor, which provides the much needed service of Memory Support Assisted Living. We are seeking PT Certified Caregivers for our Assisted Living Facility who are compassionate, caring with a team approach to care. OBJECTIVE: The primary role of the Care Givers is to provide your assigned residents with routine daily cares in accordance with established site procedures as directed by your supervisors. The Caregiver reports any noted changes in the resident as they are noted. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assist residents with activities of daily living such as cues and/or hands on / weight bearing support for activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, bathing, mobility, and transferring. 2. Accurate documentation of cares given and pertinent observation. 3. Encourage residents to participate in activities, come to all meals and encourage proper food and liquids. 4. Maintain order in all areas, including trash removal and outdoor areas. 5. Assist with meals, including preparations and clean up. 6. Resident laundry and linen changes as a contracted resident option. 7. Attend and/or present an in-service meeting as required by the facility. Record documentation. 8. Greet visitors and respond to inquiries. 9. Orient and introduce new employee's and residents. 10. Understand and be able to explain all safety and universal precautions in facility. 11. Answer emergency calls or telephone calls appropriately. Be able to explain procedures. 12. Recognize resident's right to choose. Promote choices to promote well-being, quality of life preservation and highest level of independence. 13. Encourage residents to participate in activities, including ambulating or other exercises. 14. Attends educational offerings and obtains at least 20 hours of continuing education a year per regulation 15. Perform other duties as requested by the Nurse Supervisor or Residence Director. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Must be eighteen (18) years old or older at start date of employment. 2. Eighth grade education or higher, prefer high school graduate. 3. Able to follow verbal and written requests from supervisor or residents. 4. Ability to use electronic devices such as cell phone, walkie talkie, Ipad, computers. 5. Able to work with residents of varying levels of verbal or physical limitations. 6. Ability to work with residents with memory impairment and/or aggressive behaviors 7. Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as evenings, nights, or weekends. 8. Able to make an appropriate decision in an emergency situation. 9. Be knowledgeable of all federal, state and facility rules, policies and procedures. 10.
