The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for telling the story of our organization, raising awareness, driving attendance, engagement and reengagement. They will be responsible for producing high-quality content that both builds brand recognition and engages new audiences. We are seeking someone who is creative, strategic and able to work on both traditional marketing plans and strategize on ideas outside the box to raise awareness and drive visitation. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with brilliant presentation and organizational skills, who is creative and able to think beyond traditional media outlets. Should also have strong attention to detail, excellent follow through, time management and the ability to meet timely deadlines. The ultimate goal is to significantly increase visitation.

Responsibilities include:
Become an HHC Brand Expert:
Familiarize yourself with the organization's mission, goals, promotional policies, and needs to create strategies that influence public opinion and promote the museum, programs, and other initiatives of HHC.
Development of Marketing Strategies to Drive Visitation:
Evaluate current plans, develop and execute new plans to drive visitation and engagement. Ensure all aspects of HHC programming, education, and communication are encouraging visitation to museum.
Public Relations:
Actively seek earned media opportunities by promoting HHC events, collections and newsworthy stories. Create informative and interesting press releases, press kits and pitches. Prepare and maintain detailed media activity reports.
General Outreach:
Actively reach out to potential groups (rotary clubs, schools, churches, synagogues, senior groups, tour companies) and beyond, to drive visitation and find opportunities for building awareness.
Consultant on HHC publications/communication channels:
Work with HHC staff to maximize engagement in communication vehicles including monthly electronic newsletter, annual reports, website, brochures, flyers and other written communications.
Digital Engagement:
Maximize social media engagement and awareness via current channels. Work with Program Coordinator on social media channels, website and digital outreach initiatives. Coordinate HHC presence on internet/tourism sites and opportunities for cross marketing.
Museum Membership:
Work with development manager on a plan to that builds customer loyalty programming. Explore possibility of add-on to CMC or create our own membership platform.
Management of Marketing Committee:
In conjunction with CEO and Marketing Chair, coordination of the marketing committee including planning, coordinating and attending meetings, preparing materials as necessary for meetings, as well as researching and executing ideas of the committee.
Liaison with CMC marketing team on finding ways to leverage their marketing efforts and partnership.
Supervise projects to guarantee all content is publication ready.
Create communication and marketing strategies with HHC staff for new programs, resources, launches, events, and promotions.
Assist staff in ensuring that presentations are communicating HHC in a manner that drives engagement.
Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field.
5-10 years marketing strategy, implementation and communication experience.
Results oriented, pragmatic professional with experience in both traditional and new marketing mediums.
Proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
Understanding of social media
Ability to pitch to media.
Ability to think both creatively and strategically.
Responds well under pressure with strict time limit.
