The Director of Simulation and Clinical Skills will manage and oversee all finance, administrative, operational, data and reporting functions of the simulation center for Graduate Medical Education. Efforts will focus on developing relationships with program directors and faculty participating in our Graduate Medical Education programs to enhance the quality of residency education and verification of skills through integrated and proficiency-based curricula. Additionally, this position will work with the Director of Educational Outcomes to develop curricula for teaching skills such as teamwork, interprofessional collaboration, professionalism, and interpersonal communication that can be taught in simulation settings. The Director will build collaborative relationships with simulation educators from other departments including nursing education to facilitate interdepartmental education.
Bachelor's Degree Required
Master's Degree or equivalent experience; education and training in simulation and/or medical education preferred
3 years experience in educational software or simulation education for adult learners, or 3 years clinical/technical experience in healthcare
Organize and maintain supplies in the simulation lab; make recommendations for new equipment with rationale
Interest and expertise in curricula design in simulation and clinical skill development
Coordinate resources for presentation of curriculum activities for residents including local, national and certification requirements
Develop scenarios for standardized patients, OSCEs and other assessment requirements in collaboration with Program Directors and the Director of Educational Outcomes
Assess and integrate residency requirements into simulation curriculum
Support and lead educational research in the area of simulation education
Maintain simulation lab budget
Organize work stations for drop in residents to practice skills
Develop systems for independent practice of skills
Maintain warranties on equipment for optimal performance
Support the use of evidence-based educational practices
Coordinate with regional and national simulation organizations to optimize educational outcomes
Partner with Director of Research and Director of Educational Outcomes to participate in educational research around simulation
