JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the position is to serve as a technical authority/subject matter expert for CDC on matters involving the vulnerabilities and threats to CDC's information technology systems. This is a National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Framework CyberSkills position.
DUTIES:
As an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Direct Hire), you will:
Implement and evaluate a myriad of cloud deployments, applications, and services. Conduct cloud security analysis of prospective clients' Cloud platforms/environments based on the Risk Management Framework. Evaluate business strategies, requirements, and user needs, existing usage cloud platforms, technical capabilities, and overall cloud application maturity, and provide strategic guidance and best-practices based recommendations for implementing governance boards and proven best practices for cloud based application/platform development, deployment, and support. Ensure compliance with regulatory, and industry standards for cloud based security. Evaluate the organization's existing cloud security practices, define and measure security-related activities, and demonstrate improvements to the cloud programs within the organization. Perform technical strength checks for Cloud platforms/environments prior to broader deployments. Execute on Cloud security engagements during different phases of the lifecycle i.e. assess, design, and implementation. Develop and maintain a balanced cloud security governance framework based on industry standards. Participate in the evaluation, research, and development of cloud security risk assessments. Collaborate with the architects, product management and engineering teams to create solutions that increase the product and its cloud infrastructure security and value. Implement industry leading practices around cyber risks and Cloud security for the organization. ]
REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in Cloud based architectures, IT systems and information security / cybersecurity (preferably supplemented with education and training) leading to a solid understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of Cloud-based systems and FedRAMP; NIST standards and guidelines; cloud computing service models as they relate to FedRAMP; the threats against systems in a Cloud environment; how threats exploit architecture, design, or implementation defects (a.k.a. vulnerabilities) to compromise systems or data; the efficiency and effectiveness of individual management, operational, and technical security controls in mitigating risk (i.e. from threats and vulnerabilities) and protecting information systems and data in the Cloud. Additional Qualifying experience for the GS-13 grade level requires IT-related experience that demonstrated each of the following four competencies: Attention to detail; customer service; oral communications; and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
